Crafternoons with my lil’ sis

Whilst in Peter Jones on Sloane Square a few weeks back I spied the cosiest knitted cushion I have ever seen. It was, on close inspection, a pretty simple item to make yourself…if that is, you knew how to knit! I am sure my Granny taught me once but that was a long time ago and its not like riding a bike – I have forgotten. Now luckily I have a crafty little sister, she is the Founder of Handmade-By-You and more importantly (in this situation) she hasn’t forgotten to knit. The girl in question runs craft workshops where you can make yourself a whole host of goodies from an all natural lip balm to a vintage cake stand. More recently she has embarked on wedding inspired crafternoons where you can make things like unique handmade wedding invitations or unusual table favours – good idea I thought! Anyway my main concern now is to get her to put on a ‘knit your own cosy cushion session’ – I would definitely attend – even if it meant going south of the river, passports at the ready! www.handmad-by-you.co.uk

Jac Says…

My downstairs neighbour makes delicious cakes … if you can actually bring yourself to eat them that is – it has to be said they are true works of art! Whenever she finishes a order  she sends me a little text so I can hover at her flat door and marvel at her creation. Check out The Gold Beckoning Cat Cake if you don’t believe me (April 2011 on her blog). Anyhow..the talented lady put together a gorgeous photo shoot to showcase one of her wedding cakes, Teacup Parlour china of course! Check Jac Says out at www.jacsays.co.uk

A service heaven sent…

I am feeling inspired and this unusual sense of motivation can only be credited to one person – Mary of Mary’s Tea Parties! Having just returned from a laughter and cake filled meet with the lady herself I am taking the plunge and finally, actually, writing something on my blog. Mary is well cool, not only an actress and pretty gorgeous to boot but also a tea party extraordinaire. If you have ever thrown a tea party you will know that its takes more than a few shop bought cakes and some sarnies with the crusts cut off…this is where Mary comes in. She and her team will deliver, cater and serve the most amazing homemade spread (all on pretty vintage tea sets) whilst you relax and enjoy with your lucky guests. Its a service heaven sent…check her out at maryteaparties.co.uk.

Do you know what…I quite like this. I might just blog again. Bye for now, Luc x
